I knew something was up around the Leman household…but I didn’t know what was up. Later I find out that Mrs. Uppington was being very sneaky and planning a surprise party! My first clue was when I woke up and my daughter Hannah and her husband Josh were on the patio in the morning drinking coffee — I was shocked! And I was hoping the other kids weren’t far behind…
And they weren’t! Kevin and Lauren flew in from California the next day along with other friends and family! The party was so great it made me want to be 70 all over again (and I thought that was impossible!) The best part was listening to all my kids and grandchildren talk about our relationship and what counted most in life to them.
To top it off my sweet wife bought me a 1950 Deluxe Ford – Little did she know that was my FIRST car. I paid 200 dollars for it. I think she paid a little more… She completely surprised me.
It was one of the those benchmarks in life that you don’t forget! Everyday since I keep thinking about how wonderful that evening was. How much love was in the that room.
It is a privilege to be a Dad and a husband, those are two things I certainly cut out to be!

I do! I do! I shared it. My son is 11 and he has the powerful red hair to prove it. And as hormones seem to be starting, it’s getting harder to not have him freaking out over every little thing. If I tell him to put his socks on, he is mad and yelling. He’s always been strong willed but it’s just in the past few months that all the sudden everything makes him angry. Sigh…

I posted on FB and hope I will win because I know so many parents that I’d love to share your book with! I am an aide in a Pre-K classroom. There are sooooo many parents that need this but don’t even realize it! I have raised my three and did a pretty darn good job thanks to a parenting class I took years ago when I was struggling to cope without screaming all the time! I loved reading your “Birth Order” book and you actually met my daughter “Tori” on a flight to AZ (she was the flight attendant). Talk about a strong willed and active child! I look back and think now a days I am sure some zealot of a teacher would have diagnosed her with ADHD…but I have always told people ” her Independence was not attractive at age three but serves her well as a woman in today’s world!” Keep up the great work Dr. Leman!
